Building your custom swimming pool, it is important to consider what sorts of options you want to have.  Two of the most popular trends is the vanishing edge and beach entry pools. Both come with their own set of benefits which makes them stand out from your run of the pool. Let’s have a look at the features:

Vanishing Edge Pools: Extravagant  and Tranquil

Often the type of pools are referred to as an “infinity pool” or a “negative edge” pool. This style of pool gets its name from its unique “overflow” design as the water flows right on over the edge, giving the impression of the waters of the pool extending out for miles. Depending on where the pool is located, swimmers are treated to the sense that the pool is part of the ocean or sea or that they may be on the verge of toppling over a large waterfall (i.e. if the pool is located on an upper level of a high rise building).

The shallow entry creates a “wading” or lounging area that is suitable for those of any age.

While a swimming pool does not last forever, if you do take regular preventative measures, maintain a water chemistry balance, and complete other pool upkeep tasks, you will greatly extend the life of the pool. Are you wondering what to consider when planning your pool budget? The primary monthly components include energy, chemical and water usage, and pool maintenance. 5 Things to Keep In Mind When Designing Your Pool

Above ground or in-ground? Concrete or fiberglass? When it comes to pools, homeowners are definitely spoiled for choice. Think about:

1.      What size and depth you want the pool to be

2.       What shape the pool should be (rectangular or a more custom design/shape?)

3.       How the pool will be used

Choosing A Deck For Your New Pool!

As you start to put together plans for your new swimming pool, you will begin to look at options for the pool deck. The good news is that there are a lot of solid deck options available. It is up to pool owners to determine the materials and choices that best fit their personal budgets, needs, and preferences. As a general rule of thumb, it is best practice to buy the best that you can afford. The initial pool construction period is the most affordable time to get your ideal deck. A pool is a long-term investment, and you want to be happy with the decision that you make. During your planning process, consider the following option for pool decking. 

Stamped Concrete

Stamped concrete is concrete that has been textured or stamped to resemble pavers, patterned stone, or virtually any other material. One of the best aspects of stamped concrete is that it can be designed to match numerous different home and landscaping tiles. It is imperative to add a textured surface to stamped concrete in a pool area to prevent slipping.

Flagstone

Flagstone is a great, versatile choice for pool decks. It has a naturally rough texture that makes for minimal slipping. Wood

Wood has remained on the top 5 pool deck trends list for many years because it is such a classic choice. The biggest drawback to wood is weathering. However, wood decks can be easily customized by anybody who possesses basic carpentry skills and are a great choice for above ground pools.

Fiberglass Swimming Pool - Better Quality Than You Think

There are many different types of swimming pools that one can choose from, and one of those is to go with the fiberglass swimming pool. Fiberglass pools are manufactured (and installed) as large molded structures that are then placed in the ground. The large "bucket" is then surrounded by a strong reinforcement, like the more conventional concrete, which will then help it keep its place.

Fiberglass swimming pools don't have a liner because the shell is sprayed with a specially designed coating. A wide range of models with different sizes, colors and shapes are available in pools made out of fiberglass, and allow the type of variety that many consumers love. One of the great benefits that is credited to fiberglass pools is that that are very easy and quick to install, even with the need for heavy equipment. Maintenance is also a relatively simple process, since there will never be a liner replacement, and in general, fiberglass swimming pools will need fewer chemicals to keep clean than other models.

While fiberglass swimming pools require less maintenance, they do require certain maintenance to ensure that they are not damaged or in need of greater repairs and upkeep down the line. Unlike other swimming pools, fiberglass swimming pools MUST be filled with water at all times to avoid causing structural damage through cracking or buckling. This is due to ground pressure that occurs because of improper drainage. If for some reason the pool absolutely needs to be drained, do not do it on your own! Make absolutely sure to contact the pool manufacturer and qualified professionals. You don't want to damage such a large investment!

Other factors to keep in mind is to avoid the "bathtub ring" effect of grime. Not only does this look bad, but this could damage the coatings. Most pool supply stores should sell pool tile cleaner that can take care of that in a jiffy. As an important side note, never use abrasive cleaners or harsh tools like steel wool or metal scrapers to clean fiberglass. This type of treatment will permanently damage the gel coating in the pool.

While the fiberglass pool may seem to develop hairline cracks over time, this is not a major concern since this is only indicative of the surface gel, and not actual structural damage. Dirt is always a concern, and should be brushed towards the main drain and the vacuumed out with the appropriate tool.

The fiberglass swimming pool has its advantages and disadvantages like many other swimming pools. For some this may not be a good choice, while for others the fiberglass swimming pool may be exactly what they have been looking for.
